At Higher Purpose Gifts we are all about making our customers’ gifting experience the best that it could be AND giving back. There are many different organizations that customers are able to choose from at checkout that Higher Purpose Gifts donates some of its net profits to each month. Here is a little information about these organizations.

Burke Scholars

The Burke Scholar Program at Notre Dame College Preparatory School is designed to provide an inclusive Catholic education for young men with mild to moderate cognitive disabilities. Young men with disabilities, such as Down syndrome, autism, genetic disorders and learning disabilities are given an opportunity to partake in a religious educational setting. The Burke Scholar program is the first of its kind in the Archdiocese of Chicago and one of first of such programs in the United States. Notre Dame College Prep believes that all students are entitled to receive a Catholic high school experience regardless of ability or disability. Students in this program are mainstreamed for subjects such as religion, science, social studies, physical education, and electives. Special education teachers work more closely with these students on their English and math skills to obtain individual goals.

Autism Cares Foundation

The Autism Cares Foundation differentiates itself from other organizations raising funds for autism as our support revolves around improving the life experiences for children, teens, and adults with special needs.

Mercy Home for Boys and Girls

Most of us grew up in a safe and stable home where we had shelter, food, clothing, and safety. But a home provides more than just these basics. A home offers us love, laughter, and belonging. A home promises nurturing and growth. A home is where we are seen and heard. Mercy Home for Boys & Girls offers kids a real home. A place where they can grow into successful men and women who will one day create loving homes for their own families. As a Catholic children’s charity based in Chicago, we’re dedicated to changing the future for the boys and girls, ages of 9-21, who turn to us for help in their most critical hour.

Misericordia offers a community of care that maximizes potential for persons with mild to profound developmental disabilities, many of whom are also physically challenged.  By serving society’s most vulnerable citizens, Misericordia also serves the families who want the best for them, yet cannot provide it at home.

National Association for Downs Syndrome

NADS is the oldest organization in the country serving individuals with Down syndrome and their families. It was founded in Chicago in 1961 by parents who chose to go against medical advice and raised their children with Down syndrome at home. Their pioneering efforts have made it easier for later generations of individuals with Down syndrome to be accepted by their families and communities, to develop their capabilities, and to work towards independence.

Pat Mac's Pack

Pat Mac’s Pack is a charitable organization established in memory of Patrick Thomas McNamara, who died at the age of 13 after an eleven year battle with recurrent brain tumors. The main purpose of Pat Mac’s Pack is to raise funds for pediatric brain tumor research. These funds will be used to support various projects including drug research and development, and the advancement of novel surgical procedures used to treat pediatric brain tumors. The organization also provides funds to assist young cancer patients and their families. In addition, our foundation works to raise awareness about the devastation of this disease.
